Birmingham City Hall Recycling Program

The Mayor's office of the City of Birmingham, AL wanted to implement a recycling program inside City Hall that would match its external efforts to increase residents' participation in the recycling program.

CCMC worked with My Green Birmingham and the Alabama Environmental Council on this initiative. CCMC was contracted to design the recycling program through implementation and facilitate staff participation.

In the photos to the right, you can see the how we converted all of the hundreds of existing garbage cans in City Hall to recycling for mixed and paper only.

CCMC partnered with the Alabama Environmental Council on their Recycle Alabama initiative to increase recycling across the state.

City Hall staff all brought their own cans down to have them stenciled.
Laminated cards were placed on bins to educate staff about sorting requirements.
